Art Wilson
“There is no one so hard that God cannot reach.” – Art Wilson
Gangs, Guns, and God chronicles Art’s spine tingling journey into the unpredictable and sometimes violent gang world and shows how stepping out into obedience to God’s calling can impact even the most hopeless situation.
The call to minister to people who carry out some of society’s most dangerous and violent acts came one morning after Art dropped his children off at school. As he headed home, he felt the presence of God so strongly that he pulled to the side of the road. God told him, “I have a plan for gang lives too. I will go with you and protect you.”

If we're honest, most of us would have begged out of that call. But not Art.I love this book and the honest, first-person account Art shares as he discovers what God had in store when He sent Art into Chicago's toughest neighborhoods with nothing but a Bible. Here's a hint: God is still at work, friend.Grab a copy of this book if you need inspiration or enjoy reading real stories told by everyday servants of God.I received an advanced copy of this book from the author, but all opinions are my own. Rich Adams2024-10-30 This needs to be a movie! I sat with Art Wilson in a quiet eatery in Sandestin, FL, seems just months ago, and let him tell me about the Calling that God gave him and his hope to publish his experiences and promote his ministry of witnessing God's amazing grace to gangland members in the violent, turf-battled Cabrini Green section of Chicago (this book) and later in South America (his next book). After 30 minutes of listening with continual goosebumps, I directed him to the Christian authors' writing group, Word Weavers, which I've been a member of for years. He jumped on it, and they helped him fast-track his unpublished manuscript for "Gangs, Guns & God." From the very first chapter, you'll see that this man knows no fear ... because of his trust in the Lord and the power of prayer. We've all seen movies and read books that had our hair standing on end, but nothing tops Art's true-life experiences. God bless you, Art, as you reach out to those caught up in the gangland lifestyle ... truly, the lost and the least. Sherry2024-10-20 Wonderful book This book shows one man's very close walk with God... wonderful reading! Know the author and his family and was able to see their close walk with God first hand. Mom Shopper2024-10-11 Compelling, true account that nothing is impossible with God! Incredible, riveting account of responding to God’s call to reach those most consider are beyond God’s help. Nothing is impossible with God! Compelling, true work of God working in and through those who seek Him and His will. Highly recommend. Craig A. Francks2024-10-08 When God calls, many people say “I can’t.” Art Wilson, passion for ministering to Chicago gangs, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and God‘s plan, became his source of strength as he navigated, one of the most dangerous and poverty, stricken neighborhoods in Chicago. Each day brought new challenges, but Art remained steadfast in prayer, relying on God‘s guidance. Though he face, fear and hopelessness, he allowed the spirit to lead him into unimaginable places, and circumstances. Art’s approach was simple, build relationships first, and make the ministry entirely about God. His deep bond with his family, and the love shared by with his wife was profound-“Myhusband does not belong to me, but to God”. The ministry, flourished, and Art‘s story unfolds through numerous accounts of his work and gang and prison ministry. This journey is not about Art alone, but about the struggles people face, the desire to belong, and the perfection many seek. It’s a testimony of how God‘s loves and heals, Transforming lives from depression and hopelessness to peace and joy. As 2Corinthians 5:17reminds us.- “ therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” This book is an inspiring and powerful read, demonstrating God’s ability to change lives, and bring light into the darkest places. sue2024-09-18 What God Can Do This riveting account of one man's answer to God's call is a living testimony of how God will equip us to do His will if we truly trust in Him. Mr. Wilson takes us into a world most of us only know from TV shows, movies and newscast that only focus on the evil aspects of the gang turfs found in cities throughout the us and the world. He introduces us to the causes of this unfortunate and frightening way of life many of us cannot even begin to fathom. Most importantly, however, Art Wilson proves that God's power and might will overcome evil if we will allow Him to use us in ways we may never expect. A must read for anyone thinking all hope is lost because there is truly power in the Word of God. Chuck Hartness2024-09-16 God is actively at work in the world today. Art Wilson has simply shared what God will do with a life that is totally committed to Him. God will use that life to draw other lives into a life-giving relationship with Himself that lasts forever. The book Gangs, Guns and God is easy to read and will keep your attention from start to finish. His account of ministry among the gangs of Chicago and the juvenile detention centers in North-west Florida is heart-gripping. And most importantly, he shares with the reader how they can have that life changing relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Kathy2024-09-13 God prevails God gave Art a vision and a calling and Art allowed God to use him with the gangs and gave him the name Gang Rescue which is an acronym.... We serve an awesome God. An extremely inspirational book that not only reminds us that God can change even the hardest of hearts but also that God provides for and protects those who are obedient to His call on their lives. Amazon Customer2024-09-10 Excellent Information This book provides inside information about how to share Christ with gang members. Great reading.
This action-packed book is about an unlikely man who God called to share hope, love and the gospel to violent gang members in “the projects” of Chicago. One such place was called Cabrini Green, known as one of the bloodiest war zones in the United States. The Lord broke Art Wilson’s heart for gangs and their plight of anger, hopelessness and helplessness. Coming from a small town in the panhandle of Florida, he had no prior experience or knowledge of the gang culture. Gangs, Guns, and God is a non-fiction book as well as an encouragement to others to obey God’s calling on their lives no matter the cost. Art had many harrowing close calls regarding his safety, but the Lord protected him on this journey of many years. Relationships and trust grew with Art and the gangs. Through the power of the Holy Spirit and the gospel, over time, many gang members prayed to receive Christ as their Savior. They even took their families and moved out of Chicago to begin new lives. Follow along as Art describes the many violent situations the Lord delivered him from. As many Chicago residents told him time and time again, “Art, except for God’s divine protections, there is no way you should still be alive.”
